July 5, 2025As part of the 75th Anniversary celebrations of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) in Koforidua, Heritage Christian University played a key role in the school’s 2025 Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Week Symposium. The theme for this year’s event was:“Unleashing Students’ Potential: Leadership, Empowerment, and Growth – The Role of the School Community.”
HCU’s Ebenezer Obuobi Danso Delivers Keynote Address
The keynote speaker was Mr. Ebenezer Obuobi Danso, Senior Assistant Registrar and Head of Admissions at Heritage Christian University. In his address, he challenged students to rise to the demands of their generation by embracing learning, discipline, and leadership.
Quoting Nelson Mandela, Mr. Danso stated, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world,” and reminded students that education is not only about getting jobs but about discovering and developing the purpose within.
“We do not get education to work,” he said, “but we need education to drive the work in us.”
Unpacking the Theme: Leadership, Empowerment & Growth
Mr. Danso explored the main pillars of the symposium theme:• Unleashing Potential: Students were urged to nurture their gifts through hard work and perseverance.• Leadership: Defined not by titles, but by influence, service, and integrity.• Empowerment: Students were encouraged to believe in themselves and take initiative.• Growth: Highlighted as a process of continuous learning, self-reflection, and resilience.
He cited examples from personal experience, global thinkers, and Ghanaian proverbs to bring his message home. He reminded students that “life is war” (Ɔbra yɛ ko), and success requires courage and commitment.
The Role of the School Community
Addressing teachers, parents, and the broader community, Mr. Danso called for a supportive environment where students are inspired to lead.• Teachers must model excellence and integrity.• Parents must provide love, discipline, and encouragement.• Peers must build each other up, not tear each other down.• Communities must offer mentorship and exposure to real-world experiences.
“Leadership begins not in the boardroom, but in the classroom, the home, and in your daily choices,” he noted.
Embracing Technology and Avoiding Pitfalls
Touching on emerging trends, Mr. Danso encouraged students to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a learning and creativity tool. He also gave a strong caution against drug and substance abuse, calling it a major destroyer of talent and potential.
“A moment of indulgence,” he warned, “can lead to a lifetime of regret.”
A Call to Action
The symposium ended with a rousing call to students to set clear goals, pursue leadership opportunities, and grow both in knowledge and in character. Mr. Danso challenged each student to become a force for positive change.
“The future is not distant,” he said. “It begins with the actions you take today.”

May 15, 2025Heritage Christian University has held a transformative workshop for its female staff and faculty, centered on the theme: “The Impact of a Virtuous Woman on a University Environment.” The session was led by distinguished facilitators Mrs. Angel Grandison and Mrs. Alana Ceasar from the USA.
Scriptural Foundations for Virtue
Drawing inspiration from Proverbs 31:10–31 and other supporting scriptures such as 1 Peter 3:3–4, James 1:5, and Colossians 3:23, the colloquy provided a platform for participants to explore how women of virtue can influence the spiritual, academic, and moral atmosphere of a university. Attendees engaged in deep reflection on character development, excellence in work, and the lasting legacy of a godly life within a professional setting.
*”Character and Integrity in Academia
The facilitators emphasized that inner beauty and strength—marked by humility, wisdom, and a quiet spirit—are essential traits for women navigating the demands of academic life. Participants were encouraged to model these values in both professional and personal interactions, building a culture of integrity on campus.
Diligence and Excellence as Worship
Referencing Colossians 3:23, Mrs. Ceasar reminded participants that excellence in work is a form of service to God. The biblical example of Lydia (Acts 16:14) was shared to illustrate how spiritual devotion can be effectively combined with leadership, hard work, and influence in one’s field.
Faith in Difficult Times
The session addressed the reality of challenges in professional life. Participants were urged to stay grounded in Scripture—particularly Psalm 1:1–3 and Matthew 6:33—and to seek God first in times of uncertainty. Spiritual resilience, they noted, is critical to sustaining joy and effectiveness in one’s role.
Legacy and Lasting Impact
A major highlight of the workshop was the reminder that a virtuous woman is not only morally upright but also a change agent. Proverbs 31:30 was used to drive home the message that true influence and praise come from revering God, and that such women shape institutions through quiet strength and consistency.
Personal Reflection and Devotional Practice
The session ended with personal reflection exercises, where participants were guided to evaluate their spiritual walk, professional conduct, and growth areas. The facilitators encouraged them to maintain private devotion as a vital part of their journey.
Proposed Topics for Future Workshops
Participants expressed strong interest in continuing the series with more in-depth sessions. Suggested future topics include:
Balancing Faith and Career in Academia
Mentorship and Discipleship Among Female Colleagues
Building Emotional and Spiritual Resilience
Cultivating a Spirit-Led Work Ethic
The Role of Prayer in Professional Development
