Participating teams in the 2025 Heritage Startup Challenge have completed a comprehensive business plan development workshop led by Dr. Nicholas Oblitei Commey. The session aimed to equip young entrepreneurs with the tools and strategic thinking needed to transform their innovative ideas into sustainable ventures.
From Design Thinking to Business Planning
The workshop follows an earlier phase where teams underwent the design thinking process, an approach that helped them refine their concepts and make their solutions more user-centred. Building on that foundation, the current session focused on translating creative ideas into viable business models capable of attracting investment and achieving long-term growth.
Expert-Led Business Plan Development
Dr. Commey guided participants through key components of a strong business plan, including market analysis, value proposition, financial planning, and execution strategies. His hands-on approach encouraged teams to think critically about their business assumptions and align their plans with customer needs and market realities.
Financial Foundations and Sustainable Growth
A dedicated session on financial modelling and business financial statements was delivered by Dr. Alexander Asmah, who provided participants with the knowledge to build convincing financial plans capable of attracting investment and supporting long-term growth.
Both facilitators emphasized clarity, scalability, and sustainability as cornerstones of successful business planning.
Pitch Preparation Phase
The Heritage Startup Challenge continues to nurture young innovators with mentorship, training, and exposure to industry experts. As teams prepare to pitch their refined business plans, the competition is fast shaping into a showcase of creativity, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving driven by youth-led innovation.
