BSc. Midwifery

Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Midwifery programme is designed to assist students in developing in-depth understanding and expertise in the field of Midwifery. The focus is to enable midwives to contribute significantly to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality rates, and to promote optimal quality of life of people.

Hospital Midwife
Role: Provide comprehensive care in labor wards, assisting with deliveries, managing low-risk births, and offering postpartum support in a hospital setting.

Community Midwife
Role: Deliver continuity of care in community-based settings—such as birthing centers or home births—while offering antenatal education and postnatal support.

Private Practice Midwife
Role: Work independently or as part of a small group practice to provide tailored midwifery services, from prenatal consultations to delivery and follow-up care.

Midwifery Educator
Role: Teach and mentor the next generation of midwives in academic institutions or clinical training centers, helping to shape future standards of practice.

International or Humanitarian Midwife
Role: Work with NGOs or international aid organizations to deliver midwifery care in underserved or crisis areas, addressing global maternal health challenges.
