Heritage Bible Institute (HBI) is a distinguished in-house ministerial training institution serving the Churches of Christ in Ghana and the West African sub-region. Over the years, HBI has played a crucial role in ministerial training of gospel ministers and educating and shaping church worker and leaders through rigorous biblical training programs.

Historical Background and Evolution

The institute traces its origins to the Accra School of Preaching, which was established in 1972 by the early missionaries. Unfortunately, due to operational challenges, this school discontinued functioning in 1974. However, recognizing the need for a structured ministerial training program, the National Bible Institute (NBI) was launched in 1982 under the oversight and sponsorship of the Nsawam Road Church of Christ, Accra. This initiative was a direct effort to replace the defunct Accra School of Preaching, which over time, the institution underwent several transitions to expand its reach and improve its academic offerings:

Nationwide Bible Institute

Further expansion to serve students nationwide.

Heritage Christian College

A significant upgrade integrating higher education structures.

2015 – Present

Heritage Bible Institute

Functioning as a key ministerial training for the church within a larger institutional framework.

HBI seeks to promote distinctive academic, practical, and spiritual training in the Bible, ministry, and missions for the kingdom of God.

Through our 12 regional centers, we are able to strengthen churches in various ways, including providing doctrinal education, leadership development, and support for evangelism and church planting.
