Dr. James Thompson Teaches Graduate Course at Heritage Christian University
Dr. James Thompson, an emeritus professor of New Testament, has engaged students, faculty, and staff of Heritage Christian University during his visit to Ghana. The esteemed professor is in the country to teach a graduate course in the Master of Arts in Christian Studies program.
A Sermon on Fellowship: Romans 16 at the University Church
As part of his visit, Dr. Thompson spent valuable time with students at the University Church of Christ and also participated in the University’s General Assemblies. On Sunday, he delivered a sermon from Romans 16, emphasizing the significance of Paul’s greetings and the importance of mutual acknowledgment and fellowship among believers.
Academic Interview with HCU President Dr. Samuel Twumasi-Ankrah
On Tuesday, Dr. Thompson was interviewed by Dr. Samuel Twumasi-Ankrah, a former student at Abilene Christian University and now the Founding President of Heritage Christian University. The insightful session explored Dr. Thompson’s life, academic journey, and his remarkable contributions as a distinguished Christian scholar.
Speech at Assembly on Faith and Scholarship
He also delivered a special address at the General Assembly on Wednesday, titled “What Has Athens Got to Do with Jerusalem? Is There a Relationship Between Scholarship and the Christian Faith?” His thought-provoking presentation challenged students and faculty alike to reflect on the harmony between intellectual inquiry and spiritual devotion.
Honoring the Thompsons’ Legacy at HCU
Some former students of Dr. Thompson present at the events included Mr. Fred Asare, Vice Chairman of the Heritage University Council; Mr. Douglas Ofori, Head of the Department of Theology and Ministry; and Mr. Evans Lartey, Director of Spiritual Life and Chaplaincy at Heritage.

In recognition of the Thompsons’ immense contributions to the university, including support for several faculty members to pursue graduate studies and their role in the establishment of the institution, the Executive Conference Room on the President’s floor was officially named in honor of Dr. James Thompson and Mrs. Carolyn Thompson.
