Hello and welcome to the Center for Entrepreneurship, Philanthropy and Ethics (CEPE) of HCU. The center promotes HCU’s mission which include entrepreneurship, philanthropy, ethics, global competence, discipline and servant leadership.
The CEPE focuses on developing and nurturing entrepreneurs with the spirit of philanthropy and ethics. It is a non-profit Center that seeks to support members of the HCU community: students, faculty, and other employees of HCU with entrepreneurial skills and financial support to facilitate the pursuit of profitable entrepreneurial ventures.
We have several products and services that have been carefully designed to identify, nurture and support potential entrepreneurs to operate profitable businesses.

About CEPE

Center for Entrepreneurship, Philanthropy and Ethics (CEPE) is a non-profit-making Center of the Heritage Christian University (HCU) that seeks to support students, faculty, and other employees of HCU with entrepreneurial skills and financial support to undertake profitable entrepreneurial ventures. CEPE is an independent Centre within HCU with the objective of developing and nurturing entrepreneurs with the spirit of philanthropy and ethics.

Objectives of CEPE
The objectives of CEPE is anchored in the Core Values of HCU which include Entrepreneurship, Philanthropy, Ethics and Global Competence.

1. Entrepreneurship – HCU believes that if the economy of Ghana is to advance and provide better living conditions and better opportunities for all citizens, the economy must expand. Growth and expansion of the economy means more sustainable employment opportunities, creating more income which will ultimately be translated into a reduction in the level of poverty in the economy. It is a core philosophy of HCU to develop and nurture all its constituents (students, faculty and other employees of HCU) to be in positions to create sustainable employment opportunities in Ghana and beyond.
2. Philanthropy – HCU’s philosophy of philanthropy is premised on the biblical principle that:
“Everyone to whom much is given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom
much is entrusted; more will be demanded of him.” Luke 12:48
HCU students and graduates will be equipped with practical tools that should make them thrive. Consequently, HCU students, graduates, faculty and other employees are expected to exhibit the Christ like character of philanthropy by generously contributing to the present and future wellbeing of less privilege members of society. It is therefore a core objective of CEPE to instill in HCU graduates, faculty and employees the virtue of philanthropy.
3. Ethics – Being a Christian Institution, HCU’s values are shaped by the teachings of Christ.
Students, graduates, faculty and other employees of HCU are expected to apply Christian ethics in their conduct of business. One core objective of CEPE is to nurture ethical entrepreneurs consistent with the values of Christ.

Business Advisory and Nurturing

The center shall create a pool of industry business experts who have the willingness, support the center’s vision of philanthropy and ethics in the diverse areas of business including Legal, tax, accountancy, finance, treasury, marketing, digital business, human resource management, and technology. They will offer advisory support to entrepreneurs.
Guiding Criteria and eligibility: This service shall be provided for every business start-up that require assistance in the areas available in the pool.

Business Boot-Camps

The center as port of supporting start-ups shall organize annual boot-camps for businesses and individuals to display their services, products, talents and solutions.
his boot-camps shall be organized within a Christ-centered environment to create the required ethical display and patronage.
Guiding Criteria and eligibility: This service shall be available to all businesses within the business community in Ghana.

HCU Start-up Challenge

The center shall organize annual business plan competition in the HCU Community. The aim of the competition shall be to award the best proposals with support to turn them into successful businesses. The center seeks to Challenge Student Entrepreneurs to Dream, Experiment, Iterate, and Persist.
Guiding Criteria and eligibility: Only HCU students qualify to apply for this challenge.

Business and Ethics Training

The center shall organize seminars, workshops and informal knowledge sharing events to provide students and the entire HCU community with the required knowledge and competence to engage in successful and ethical businesses. The pool of business expert shall be used to provide the training along with the academic staff.
Guiding Criteria and eligibility: This service shall be available to all members of the HCU community and members of the Churches of Christ in Ghana.

Venture Capital

The center shall pursue the most attractive investments within target criteria. The center shall support potential entrepreneurs by evaluating their plans and coaching them for the presentation to the Governing Board. Successful plans shall be supported through either equity or loans.
Guiding Criteria and eligibility: Investment proposals are open to all entrepreneurs within the HCU community seeking funding for new businesses at the seed, start-up or early stages of the life cycle.

Research

The center shall regularly conduct empirical research into emerging business and ethical issues to help in its decisions. The center shall offer grants, funding, and awards to researchers and institutions to search for answers to business challenges in the Ghanaian market.
Guiding Criteria and eligibility: This shall be available to all researchers within the HCU community especially faculty members to support their research activities.

Day of Philanthropy

The center shall set aside a day to celebrate the charitable works of members of the community and other notable philanthropist within the Ghanaian society. The purpose of this day is to showcase the generosity of individuals to HCU community and Ghana and encourage them to continue to in their good works. Another purpose is to raise funds in support of HCU scholarship activities.
Guiding Criteria and eligibility: This shall be available to all philanthropists within the HCU community and notable philanthropists in Ghana.

HCU Talent Hunt

The center shall collaborate with the Student Representative Council (SRC) to organize entertainment competitions or talent shows to encourage the students to showcase their talents in music, acting, comedy etc. Judges on behalf of the center shall select highly talented individual for mentoring and sponsorship to help them take advantage of their talents.
Guiding Criteria and eligibility: This service shall be available to all students of the HCU.
