Welcome to the School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Allied Health Sciences (SoNMaHS)

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health
Sciences (SoNMAHS), which is one of the constituent Schools of the Heritage Christian
University (HCU). HCU stands out in the higher education landscape for its unique approach
to nurturing students who do not only excel academically but are also primed to meet the
demands of the international market. Our holistic education model is designed to transform
students intellectually, morally, and emotionally, equipping them with the skills and values
needed to thrive in the job market or to embark on entrepreneurial ventures. Thus, HCU
remains one of the leading avenues for the promotion of Nursing, Midwifery, and Allied
Health Sciences education. Coupled with this mandate of fostering of Nursing, Midwifery,
and Allied Health Sciences education is the focus on the development of competent practical
based and research-oriented nurses, midwives and Allied Health professionals for the overall
advancement of these noble professions. Currently the School offers two (2) Bachelor’s
degrees namely Bachelor of Science in General Nursing and Bachelor of Science in
Midwifery. These degrees are offered through the weekday programme, and weekend
sandwich and diploma-to-degree (top-up) programmes. We work together in a culture of
scholarly inquiry that cultivates conviction, character, creativity, compassion and community
which are the core values of HCU. HCU is currently linked to the following institutions
HCC-USA Foundation, located in the USA, and foreign universities (Abilene Christian
University, Harding University, Lipscomb University for knowledge sharing among faculty. It
is always a prerogative to admit new students, who eventually become tremendous assets to
the professions, or to collaborate with relevant stakeholders and partners, or simply do what
we do best which is to create a congenial and well-structured environment for the teaching
and learning. So, our doors are always open to individuals who are interested in nursing,
midwifery, and Allied Health Sciences education at the bachelor’s level. Thank you.
